GIZ Database Details 41 Transport NAMAs

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)’s TRANSfer project maintains a Transport Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) database which has now been updated and contains verified and detailed information on 41 Transport NAMAs worldwide.

The transport NAMA Database provides access to transport NAMAs that are at all development stages from feasibility study to implementation. The database is the first resource to present information about transport NAMAs in one place, and the transport sector is the first sector to present its NAMAs in an easily accessible way.

By gathering information on transport NAMAs that are publicly available, the database supports knowledge sharing and transparency on transport NAMA development. The database gives users an overview and the opportunity for in-depth information on the main characteristics and processes behind the featured transport NAMAs, including the policy identification process, mitigation actions, co-benefits, MRV, financing and the registration process.

It is an open source platform that is being maintained by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB)-funded TRANSfer project, which is implemented by GIZ.

The Transport NAMAs covers a wide range of projects and are categorized under the Avoid-Shift-Improve framework. Some examples of the Transport NAMAs include:

Statistics on the number, type, approach, stage, level of implementation, region and transport mode of the Transport NAMAs are presented with illustrative graphs on this page.
