Transport emissions are growing faster than any other energy end-use sector’s. A fundamental strategy to change the trajectory of transport emissions is through the deployment of zero emission vehicles (ZEVs). ZEVs—including battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and fuel cell vehicles—are highly efficient and in concert with clean energy deployment can greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. ZEVs also provide benefits to air quality and reduced dependence on fossil fuels.
ZEVs are ready now and for the future to reduce transport emissions. More than 1 million four-wheel vehicles and more than 200 million 2- and 3-wheel vehicles are on the roads today, and many actors are committed to fully realizing the climate benefits of ZEVs.
At this event, high-level representatives of leading government, inter-governmental, and private-sector organizations will discuss the current status of ZEVs; innovative technologies, investments, and policies leading to growing deployment; and their commitments to broadening ZEV access and multiple benefits for the future.
